Steven M. Bloch, Undergraduate Wins 2006-2007 Castle Scholarship
The 2006-2007 Castle Scholarship has been awarded to Steven M. Bloch, who is a University of Rochester major in Physics (class of 2007). In addition to earning his BS in Physics, he is also earning a BS in Mathematics and a Biophysics Certificate. Steven has been working for Dr. Esther Conwell, Professor of Chemistry (and Physics) Theoretical Chemical, Biological, and Condensed Matter Physics. The Castle (John Jr. Scholarship Endwoment Fund was set up in 1994 by a gift of $25,000. Bequest of John Castle Jr., UR Physics Class of 1941, the income from the endowment to provide a scholarship to students in the Department of Physics.

Scott Field, Physics (BS) major (Class of 2005 and Take 5 Program 2006) also earned a BS in Mathematics. In addition, Scott was also awarded the 2006 Undergraduate Teaching Award.
Grant Tremblay, Physics and Astronomy (BS) major (Class of 2006) and also a Minor in Mathematics. In addition, Grant won the 2006 Astronomical Society of New York award and the 2006 Undergraduate Teaching Award.
