Professor Paul Tipton, a member of the Rochester group working in the CDF experiment at Fermilab, was one of the key scientists reponsible for the discovery of the top quark using the CDF detector at Fermilab. (see The Discovery of the Top Quark by Liss and Tipton in Scientific American, Sept. 1997).
Other faculty at Rochester who are involved in the CDF experiment are Professors Arie Bodek and Kevin McFarland, and Senior Scientists Pawel deBarbaro, Willis Sakumoto, and Howard Budd.
Professor Professor Tom Ferbel , a member of the Rochester group working in the Dzero experiment at Fermilab, was one of the key scientists reponsible for the discovery of the top quark using the Dzero detector at Fermilab. Other faculty members at Rochester involved in the Dzero experiment are Professors Paul Slattery and Regina Demina, and Senior Scientists Georege Ginther, and Marek Zielinsky.
