Undergraduate Physics Major Zhuohan Liang Wins 2004 Janet Howell Clark Prize
The University of Rochester Janet Howell Clark Prize is awarded annually by the University to the senior woman who has shown the greatest promise in creative work in either astronomy, biology, chemistry, or physics and who has shown outstanding versatility in the mastery of allied fields.
Zhuohan Liang a Physics/Mathematics double major (a senior and a take 5 major-class of 2005) will receive the 2004 Janet Howl Clark Prize. She is also one of three U of R students to be named Goldwater Fellows in the 2004 National competition. Zhouhan is an outstanding student whose interests are in mathematical physics, field theory (she is already taking graduate courses) and philosophy.
Zhuohan Liang is working towards two BS degrees ( BS in Physics and BS in Mathematics). Her Take 5 project is on " Human Thoughts and Relations between Humans and Nature". She is also a Minor in Philosophy. Zhuohan did an REU at Los Alamos in summer of 2003, and will do at REU with Professor Rajeev at Rochester in summer of 200

Since 1995, Physics and Astronomy undergraduates have won this award five times, including: 2004 Zhuohan Liang; 2002 Elizabeth Strychalski ; 1999 marianne Vieira; 1996 Suzanne Galada ; and 1995 Jeanne Traer;
