Ferbel Awarded a Senior PPARC Fellowship For a Sabbatical Year at Imperial College
Professor Tom Ferbel has been awarded a senior PPARC Visiting Fellowship to spend the 2002-2003 academic year on sabbatical at Imperial College, London. Ferbel will be hosted by Professor Ian Butterworth at Imprerial College.
The Particle Physics and Astronomy Research Council (PPARC) funds UK research, education and training in its four broad areas of science - particle physics, astronomy, solar system science and particle astrophysics. PPARC has its administrative headquarters in Swindon, along with several other research councils, and has three scientific sites: the UK Astronomy Technology Centre in Edinburgh, the Isaac Newton Group in La Palma and the Joint Astronomy Centre in Hawaii.
The organization also funds a variety of distinguished PPARC Fellowships . A few years ago, Professor Lynne Orr was awarded a visiting PPARC Fellowship for a visit to Durham (in Fall 1996), where she visited and collaborated with Professor James Stirling .
