U of R's Krishnaswami a Finalist for 1999 APS Apker Award!
Govind Krishnaswami, a U of R Undergraduate Physics and Mathematics double major from the class of 1999, has been chosen as one of three finalists for the 1999 Apker Award. This prestigious award is given by the American Physical Society to an undergraduate who has demonstrated exceptional potential for scientific research through an original contribution to physics.
Krishnaswami's nomination was based on his senior thesis A Model of Interacting Partons for Hadronic Structure Functions, which was done under the supervision of Prof. Sarada G. Rajeev.
As a finalist, Krishnaswami will travel to Washington to give a talk on August 28, 1999, and will receive a $1000 award.
Krishnaswami has chosen to stay in Rochester, continuing his research as a graduate student in the Department of Physics and Astronomy starting next Fall.
