PHY 264 Laser Systems

Semester: Fall
Credit Hours: 4
Prerequisite: Some knowledge of simple quantum mechanics and scalar diffraction theory is assumed. Optics majors should have taken, or be taking concurrently: OPT 241 and OPT 261. MTH 163 or MTH 165 is recommended.

Fundamentals and applications of lasers and laser systems, including optical amplification, cavity design, beam propagation and modulation. Emphasis is placed on developing the basic principles needed to design new systms, as well as an understanding of the operation of those currently in use. Cross-listed OPT 224.
